How to Download a Tumblr Video on iPhone, Android and PC

How it works

  1. Find and copy the URL

    On tumblr.com or a blog.tumblr.com site, open the video post. Click the share icon or copy the URL from your browser's address bar.

  2. Paste it and press Download

    Open the Tumblr video downloader and paste the link into the box.

  3. Click MP4 and save

    Click the MP4 option to save the file to your device.

On iPhone

Copy the link in Safari or the Tumblr app, paste it and press Download. Tap the MP4 button. The MP4 saves through your browser; open the Files app and look in Downloads. You can add it to Photos from there.

On Android

Copy the link from the Tumblr app or website, paste it in Chrome or any browser and press Download. Tap the MP4 button. The file lands in your browser's Downloads folder.

On PC and Mac

Copy the URL from the address bar or the share button, paste it and press Download. Click the MP4 option. The file saves to your browser's download folder.

Which Tumblr links are supported?

Public video posts on tumblr.com, www.tumblr.com and blogname.tumblr.com/post/ URLs. Photo posts, text posts and private or deleted posts can't be downloaded.

Can I download a reblogged Tumblr video?

Paste the link to the post that contains the video. If it opens as a public video post in your browser, it can work. If it fails, try the link to the original post.

Which format do I get?

MP4, the file Tumblr serves for that video post. We don't edit or re-encode it, so any creator attribution or graphics in the file stay as Tumblr provides them.

Do you store my videos?

After we look up the post, your browser downloads the video file straight from Tumblr's servers. We don’t store your videos.
